Bethany is the perfect example of the heart of nursing. I work with her, so I could give many examples of her extraordinary compassion, and what I am describing here aptly demonstrates her commitment to her patients and nursing. Bethany had a patient who was struggling with various illnesses and some unfortunate adverse reactions to the treatment, which resulted in difficulty managing emotions. He really wanted to be heard and understood. I was walking down the hall during a very busy morning, and there was Bethany sitting down with the patient, just listening, talking, and ensuring this man knew she saw his humanity. She must have spent close to an hour with him, if not more. We see patients on some of the worst days of their lives. Many are grappling with significant changes due to health and age, as this person was. I am certain she made a lasting impression on him.

Bethany was exceptional with my dad. She was not only kind and empathetic toward him, but also proactive in keeping our family informed with medical updates. Chiefly, we are most grateful that she went above and beyond to advocate for a safe discharge plan, and our family is incredibly grateful for her dedication and support.
