She is a rare jewel in her profession.
Subsequent to Adumbration surgery, I developed blood clots in my bladder. I arrived at the ER in a great deal of pain as the clots ultimately prevented my urine from flowing for several hours, and thus urgently needed to be dislodged.

Nurse Jackie demonstrated each of the qualities of an exceptional nurse: She worked efficiently to minimize my pain as quickly as possible, exhibited superior bedside manner to calm my concerns as she proceeded, performed the flushing of my catheter in a painless and skillful manner, was informative throughout the process as to what she was doing, and was patient in responding to the many questions I posed.

Above and beyond these rare yet essential attributes, she comprehensively communicated each of my concerns to the on-call urologist in order to ascertain the requisite next steps to both monitor my condition and mitigate the likelihood of clot recurrence.

If this were not enough, nurse Jackie educated me by demonstrating how I can self-irrigate in the unlikely event of clot recurrence. This was quite important, as it may allow me to avoid returning to the ER should this condition recur.

It was clear that this is a nurse who is in her profession for all of the right reasons! If she is not already, I believe Jackie should be officially teaching other nurses, as she exhibits each of the technical and interpersonal skills of an ideal nurse. She is a role model for others in her field to learn from and emulate.

Simply put: She is a rare jewel in her profession. She deserves this recognition for her exceptional talents, attitude, and skills.
