Every day I come to work excited if I know I will be working alongside Jay!
Jay is such an excellent charge nurse. He has been so supportive to every staff member on our unit and is willing to drop anything to help on a moment’s notice. He is so approachable and made my new grad experience so much easier because he never made me feel less than. Even to this day, he is available to help with any of my IV’s and to help with de-escalation. He has a good clinical eye and escalates care timely and appropriately. He continues to encourage our staff to reach quality goals and intervenes when necessary. Jay is an integral part to our unit.

Jay is an excellent charge nurse on 4 South. Jay is an excellent leader, a compassionate nurse, and exemplary team player. Jay shows up to work ready to help the nurses and CNA’s on the floor. Jay will never hesitate to help on the floor, he is always helping put in IV’s, foley catheters, and giving medication. Jay has helped me countless times especially when I was a new grad. I remember one time I had a mild headache at the beginning of my shift and needed to take my break earlier than usual. I told Jay I would be taking my break although I knew I would be getting a new admission soon. Jay was very understanding, and when I returned from my break, I came to find that he did the complete admission. That made me feel supportive and relieved to know that the patient was still receiving care although their nurse was on break.
Jay was there to make sure the patient was welcomed into our unit and needs attended to. Jay does an amazing job at de-escalating situations with patients. All the nurses on night shift that work with Jay never hesitate to talk to him about what is going on with the patient and there is never hesitation when it comes to getting Jay involved with the patient. He always finds a way to accommodate the patient. One patient had a panic attack because he could not reach his wife who was also hospitalized on a different floor. Jay took around 30 minutes to talk to the patient and ease his anxiety. Jay acknowledged his feelings and showed empathy. The patient felt heard and was able to relax and return to his room. Every day I come to work excited if I know I will be working alongside Jay!
