Because of Delaney, the hospital felt less frightening, and our little girl felt cared for not just physically, but emotionally.
During one of the hardest times our family has ever faced, Delaney was a steady light in the darkness. Our little girl was hospitalized at Dell Children’s for three weeks, and Delaney cared for her during several night shifts—when fear, loneliness, and exhaustion feel the heaviest for a child.

From the very beginning, Delaney saw her as more than a patient. She took the time to truly know her. She made teddy bears out of towels that brought smiles when they felt impossible. She walked the halls with her, gently encouraging her to eat, turning something stressful into something safe. She even drew her, creating moments of normalcy and joy in a place that can feel overwhelming.

Most importantly, Delaney formed a genuine connection with her. Nights were especially hard—filled with anxiety and nightmares—but Delaney had an incredible way of easing her fears. Her calm presence, patience, and kindness helped her feel safe enough to rest. Because of Delaney, the hospital felt less frightening, and our little girl felt cared for not just physically, but emotionally.

Delaney embodies everything a nurse should be: compassionate, attentive, creative, and deeply human. She didn’t just provide excellent care—she gave comfort, trust, and reassurance when our child needed it most. Our family will never forget the impact she had on our daughter during those long weeks, and we are profoundly grateful for the extraordinary nurse and person that Delaney is.
