Barry Pace is more than a manager; he is a mentor, an advocate, a clinical expert, and the moral compass of our team.
In a profession filled with extraordinary individuals, Barry stands out as a beacon of excellence, a pillar of support, and the very definition of a servant leader. His impact is felt not only within the walls of our unit but across the entire cardiac service line, where his unwavering commitment elevates the standard of care for every patient and inspires every colleague he encounters.

Barry’s leadership is founded on an uncompromising commitment to clinical excellence. He doesn't just set high standards; he embodies them. He is not a leader who manages from a distance; he is a constant, supportive presence on the floor, deeply involved in the daily operations and challenges of our unit. He fosters an environment where "good enough" is never the goal. Instead, he empowers his team to ask critical questions, pursue continuous learning, and strive for the gold standard in patient care on every shift, with every interaction.

There is no task too small or challenge too great for Barry. His mantra is, "How can I help?" and he lives it every single day. I have witnessed him on countless occasions rolling up his sleeves to assist in moments of high stress, even if it's something simple like taking out empty trays from the rooms.

Barry’s influence extends far beyond our immediate unit. He possesses a unique, system-wide perspective that benefits the entire cardiac service line. He understands that exceptional patient care is a journey that involves collaboration across multiple departments. Barry has been an instrumental force in bridging the gaps between the CTICU, Cath lab, our cardiac step-down unit, and any other cardiology unit in between.

Perhaps where Barry’s leadership shines brightest is in his interactions with patients and their families during their most vulnerable moments. He possesses a rare and beautiful ability to blend his vast clinical knowledge with profound empathy and compassion. A cardiac event is a terrifying experience for both patients and their loved ones, and Barry is a master at navigating these difficult conversations with grace and patience.

Barry Pace is more than a manager; he is a mentor, an advocate, a clinical expert, and the moral compass of our team. He cultivates a culture of respect, learning, and compassion where nurses feel empowered to be their best selves. He leads by example, demonstrating every day that true leadership is not about authority, but about service, support, and an unyielding dedication to the well-being of others.

For his tireless work, his profound impact on staff and patients alike, and his unwavering dedication to making our hospital a better place, Barry Pace is exceptionally deserving of the DAISY Award for Leadership. He is, in every sense of the word, a leader who makes us all proud to be nurses.
