I would like to nominate Katie for a DAISY Award in recognition of the exceptional compassion, dedication, and care she provided as my son's NICU nurse. Having a baby in the NICU is one of the most frightening and emotional experiences a parent can go through. From the moment Katie became part of our care team, she brought comfort, reassurance, and kindness during an incredibly difficult time. She treated my son as if he were her own and cared for him with such gentleness, patience, and love. Katie took the time to explain every detail and answer every question. She never rushed us and always made sure we understood what was happening. Her calm presence and compassion made an unimaginable situation feel more manageable. One of the most meaningful things Katie did for us was allowing us to truly be parents in an environment that can often feel overwhelming and intimidating. She encouraged us to participate in our son's care, guided us with patience, and trusted us even when we lacked confidence. Because of her, we were able to bond with our baby and experience moments of normal parenthood despite the NICU setting. Katie never made us feel like visitors or outsiders. She made us feel like our son's parents, encouraging us to hold him, care for him, comfort him, and celebrate every milestone. Those moments meant everything to us and helped us shape our confidence as we prepared to bring him home. Because of Katie, our NICU experience was filled with compassion instead of fear. She is the kind of nurse who leaves a lifelong impact on the families she cares for, and she truly represents everything the DAISY Award stands for. We will be forever grateful for Katie and the love and dedication she showed to our son.
