Leah truly encompasses a heart of caring in all she does. I witness her go above and beyond for patients in our care daily. A recent example was when caring for a young patient with a significant brain injury, she took the time to care for the family as well as the patient. She took time every shift to check on family and was a significant figure in the healing journey for the family and patient. She cared for the patient's comfort and took the time to braid the patient's hair when it was a tangled mess, and started incorporating the patient's skin care in her daily routine at the hospital. This act was meaningful to the patient as it restored her sense of self and continued to care for her in ways that were important to her. This was also meaningful to the family because it made their daughter look more like herself. She was sure to check in with the patient's family continuously and answer questions thoughtfully and thoroughly. Leah truly encompasses what it means to be an extraordinary nurse. She is an advocate, a resource, a mentor, a friend, and an incredible leader who continually makes a positive impact in our unit and for our patients.
