Stacey showed compassion, empathy, and strong nursing leadership while managing her duties as a manager.
Stacey is a manager who is active on the floor and does not huddle in her office all day. Stacey is often rounding, talking to patients, helping move equipment, and keeping the floor clean and clutter-free.
A recent patient was quite mean to most of the staff in both her words and actions. Despite staff attempts to help solve and address the patient's needs, the patient was not happy with the staff or the treatment team. Stacey took the lead and communicated directly with the patient, coordinated her fore plan, and made sure she was in the room with each staff interaction to make sure the plan was understood by the patient and all questions answered in a timely fashion.
Stacey also set up a secure group chat on MHB with the attending treatment team and nursing staff, so there was constant and clear information exchanged in a prompt and open communication format with the patient. This minimized confusion or escalation in the patient's negative behaviors due to her constant degrading of the staff.
Stacey also took the lead in coordinating a prompt MRI test due to the patient's special needs and actively coordinated an IP bed for more progressive care. Stacey showed compassion, empathy, and strong nursing leadership while managing her duties as a manager. The patient had positive outcomes thanks to Stacey.
