Capt Gugel is an exemplary leader in JBER’s nursing community, which we are lucky to have.
Capt Gugel is able to provide an unparalleled connection to patients in our military population, given both his genuine personality and military enlisted time in the Army. Capt Gugel has simply a charming personality and passion for both his patients and his discipline. For reasons perhaps resulting from his enlisted time in Michigan, he very rapidly built trust with me passively in such a way that I, as a patient, was able to best communicate with him as my nurse, and in turn, I was able to receive the best care possible.
Capt Gugel helps bridge the all-too-common barrier of patients' lack of medical communication skills. Moreover, he’s simply a beacon of contagious laughter in appropriate contexts and serves not only as a great leader to his patients but, based on my observation in the BHU, also as a great leader to his technicians. He’s intelligent, current in his literature, and even brought me current education for my tinnitus if I sought care after my hospitalization. Capt Gugel is an exemplary leader in JBER’s nursing community, which we are lucky to have.
