She is an exceptional professor, talented in many ways, and an inspiration to all who have had the pleasure to learn from her and grow through her.
Nursing school is hard. Every aspect of it is challenging in its own way, whether it’s the material, life happening while you’re trying to study, having to learn with new study methods, late nights, early mornings, losing friends and family time, or sacrifice after sacrifice to make this dream come true. It can be a journey that can leave you feeling lonely, defeated, and frustrated. In the storms of the program, come the rainbows in the form of friends and staff.

Professor Murray was the brightest of those rainbows in my student nursing career. Even though I was only her student for one term, I had heard about her through the words of admiration from other students of hers. It was quickly evident that she was that Professor - the one who picks you up and reminds you never to give up, sends you the best uplifting messages at the perfect time (or so it felt), the one who makes you feel seen, validated, and heard, and the one you will never forget throughout your career. She is an exceptional professor, talented in many ways, and an inspiration to all who have had the pleasure to learn from her and grow through her.

I’ve had this professor for three different courses, and she’s been an incredibly supportive instructor. Her teaching lessons were very useful and straightforward. Other than being an incredible professor, she has been the biggest student advocate and a voice of encouragement when exams or stress become overbearing.

Professor Murray has truly made an impact on my nursing education and personal growth. I can say proudly that she has prepared me to be the best nurse that I can possibly be. Professor Murray was always available when my friends and I needed emotional and academic support. I cried to her when I scored a 99% on my exit exam. I see her as a motherly figure who would comfort my friends and I when we needed advice and motivation! I hope this is enough to express how much she made an impact on me.

I am honored to nominate Professor Murray for the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nursing Faculty. She is a truly exceptional educator whose compassion, dedication, and perseverance have left a lasting impact on my life and on my journey to becoming a nurse.

From the very beginning, Professor Murray stood out not only as an outstanding professor but also as an inspiring example of what it means to live and lead with heart. She is a nurse, a nurse practitioner, and a mother, and she still somehow manages to excel in each of those roles with remarkable balance and grace. Watching her complete her nurse practitioner program while guiding our cohort through our final semester was incredibly inspiring. It showed me that determination and empathy can coexist, and it reminded me of the kind of nurse and person I hope to become.

During a particularly difficult time in my life, I experienced both personal loss and self-doubt. I had recently lost my husband’s grandmother and was struggling with my confidence due to past educational and emotional challenges. Professor Murray recognized my struggle and offered kindness, understanding, and reassurance when I needed it most. Her compassion helped me believe in myself again and gave me the strength to persevere when I felt incredibly overwhelmed.

Her teaching style was equally impactful. Her lectures and PowerPoints made even the most complex topics understandable and engaging. She fostered an environment where students felt supported, valued, and capable of success. I always looked forward to attending her class because she made learning meaningful and connected the material to real-life nursing practice.

Professor Murray has profoundly impacted my growth as both a student and a future nurse. Her compassion, dedication, and authenticity set a standard of excellence that I will strive to uphold throughout my nursing career. She truly exemplifies the spirit of the DAISY Award.
