She had something about her that brought down all walls. She is humane, warm-hearted, compassionate, and encouraging. As soon as she enters the ward, she puts a smile on your face, no matter how bad your day may be.
Nomination 1

I was in the secure ward at the time, already quite frightened, and had lost all courage. I had already given up inside.

Nurse Susanne was simply different. She always gave me new courage and never stopped believing in me. Since I was already quite ”difficult," at some point, the others had also given up on me. But never Nurse Susanne. She always had good advice and never gave up on me. She always instinctively sensed when I needed attention, preventing me from committing suicide. Without her, I probably wouldn't be sitting here today.

I just wanted to die. She opened the bathroom door and stopped me. She took me in her arms and was there for me. She dried my tears and said, “It'll be okay, I believe in you,” which gave me the courage to keep fighting. She put in a good word for me, and I was allowed to continue my therapy.

When everyone else had given up on me, she believed in me. She fought on day after day, together with me. She was always there. No matter how difficult the situation was, she always had warm, encouraging words for me.

When I met her again during my current stay, she remembered me. You weren't just a number; she sees the person behind it. Even this time, with a lot of fear in my stomach, she managed to get through to me, to look behind my facade, to tear down the wall I had built so high around myself.

Without Susanne, I would never have come this far. She had something about her that brought down all walls. She is humane, warm-hearted, compassionate, and encouraging. As soon as she enters the ward, she puts a smile on your face, no matter how bad your day may be.

Without her, I would no longer be here. She shows that even after many years in nursing, you can still be so human and warm-hearted. Her heart is in the right place. You can tell she loves her job.

When she came to our ward today, she said something that touched my heart. She said, "This is my first vacation since March. On my way here, I thought to myself, I need a vacation, as much as I love my job. Then you arrive here, you're standing here, I look at you, and I know why I do my job, and I enjoy doing it. That's when you know what you're working for."

Nomination 2

I was admitted as an emergency case and transferred to the Jasper's ward. Nurse Suanne always had an open ear for me, encouraged me, and never gave up on giving me hope and a new perspective. As a passionate knitter, she gets everyone else knitting, too. Nurse Susanne puts her whole heart into her work, and you can feel that.

Nomination 3

I am currently a patient in the Jasper's psychiatric ward and am struggling with severe anxiety and obsessive thoughts.

When I was at my lowest point, Nurse Susanne always had an open ear for me, and her advice and life stories had a decisive influence on my path to recovery. Thanks to her, I was able to regain my courage to face life and feel hope for improvement.

I would even go so far as to say that Nurse Susanne is more effective than any antidepressant. When I had been crying all day, she came and comforted me and taught me how to knit to take my mind off things.

Sister Susanne is a truly empathetic listener and has so much expertise and experience that she has had a positive influence on my time here in the ward. I thank her from the bottom of my heart for all the conversations we've had, and I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to get to know her.
