I was airlifted to ORMC, with a subarachnoid hemorrhage. As you can imagine this was absolutely terrifying for me but especially for my family members. The uncertainty of what was happening to me and the severity of my situation was overwhelming but we are so grateful for all of the medical responders and team members who reacted so quickly and ultimately saved my life. However, there was one person who through all of this stood out and really went above and beyond to make me and my family feel comfortable and confidant that I was receiving the necessary care and attention. Krista not only made us feel comfortable, but she went way beyond her job requirements and made it very clear that in this situation where it would be easy to be just another patient, that she truly cared and gave all of her efforts to make sure I knew that and felt it.
In my 63 years of life, I have dealt with medical issues but nothing to this extent and severity, and I am so grateful to the amazing doctors and staff that reacted so swiftly, but out of all of the doctors, nurses, responders, etc… Krista really stuck out and made such a difference in my time at ORMC and in my opinion truly contributed to my healing.
I hope that you will consider Krista for the DAISY Award especially knowing why this Award was created. I believe that the family of Patrick Barnes would agree that nurses such as Krista play such a vital role in patients healing and that they intended for this award to acknowledge those who give all and go way above to provide a quality of care that is unmeasurable.
