After a few visits to a local urgent care, I was referred to Meriter Hospital late at night to help me figure out why I was in such pain. My husband had come with me, but he worked in the morning, so once it was decided I would be staying overnight, it was the best choice for him to go home.

 Now, at this point, it’s about 1:00 am. I’m scared, alone, and I haven’t even had the strength to shower in almost a week from the pain radiating through my body. Bria found me a warm shower, made sure I was comfortable. She became a friend, a mother, a sister, a nurse, and an angel to me that night. I was so scared as I now had to have emergency surgery, and my very first surgery at that.

Bria found me answers for all my questions. She spoke to me with kindness, which somehow helped me keep myself glued together. It felt like she saw me not as a patient, but as a person. Like I was someone to her when we had never met before in our lives. I truly think she had a caring gift. Something deeper than what you learn in school, it's something she was born with.

The world would be nothing without nurses like Bria. Although our time together was mere hours, I do feel as if she left an impact on me.
