Congratulations to Megan Magana, RN, of the Emergency Department, who received the DAISY award for her extraordinary efforts during an exceptionally challenging shift last month.

“Amidst the intensity and emotional weight of the situation, Megan’s leadership, composure, and clinical expertise stood out in remarkable ways,” said her co-worker, who nominated her for the award. After providing initial care for the patient, “she seamlessly pivoted to supporting other patients in the ED — ensuring no lapse in care during an already overwhelming situation.”

Later, she provided a critical, lifesaving intervention for another patient who was brought in.

“Megan’s timing and actions were pivotal,” her co-worker said. “She demonstrated exceptional situational awareness, advanced clinical judgment, and the ability to prioritize and execute care with a calm and confident demeanor. Her contributions were not only technically outstanding but also essential to the overall success” of the team’s efforts to resuscitate a patient that day.

Megan “exemplified the highest standards of nursing excellence during one of the most harrowing cases we’ve encountered,” her co-worker wrote. “Her performance was nothing short of extraordinary, and I strongly recommend her for the DAISY award. She truly was a rock star.”
