April's leadership brings clarity, accountability, and measurable improvements to patient outcomes and operational efficiency.
Nomination 1:
Although April is not at the bedside each day, her leadership has an incredible impact on patient care across our organization. She consistently makes decisions and drives initiatives that are rooted in what is best for our patients. Her work behind the scenes, whether improving workflows, supporting the team, or leading system-wide change, is always guided by compassion, excellence, and a deep commitment to patient-centered care. Her influence extends far beyond their own department, making a difference in the experiences and outcomes of countless patients throughout the BayCare Health System.
Nomination 2:
April has supported individuals on my team, entire departments on my team, and our service line as a whole from their position, even though we are miles away. She is energetic, passionate, and engaged in all the work we do to improve the outcomes for our patients, team members, and physicians in surgical services. She is frequently the "go-to" for all BayCare questions related to pre-procedure testing and pre-op. She has become a trusted guru for us all. This leader challenges herself and brings others along to push for excellence. She is the first to sign up to steer a workgroup/project, such as the system-wide finance project that broke pre-procedure testing into its own cost center, which required endless meetings, inter-departmental collaboration, audits, and one-on-ones to increase everyone's understanding and compliance. She leads our fellow service line leaders fearlessly in our Shared Governance PPC- offering an inclusive environment where we can all offer transparency, share best practices, and strategize the change we want to see. She is a pleasure to work with and inspires continuous collaboration and progress for our system.
Nomination 3:
April has been an exceptional perioperative leader, demonstrating a consistent commitment to standardizing and implementing efficient processes across the surgical continuum. As an innovative team player, she not only contributed to the optimization of anesthesia workflows but also played a key role in the digitization of perioperative services. She worked hand in hand with clinical, technical, and administrative teams—often going above and beyond—to ensure seamless integration and high-quality patient care. Notably, she focused on improving the Pre-Admission Testing (PAT) process, ensuring that patients were thoroughly evaluated and optimized prior to surgery. Her efforts significantly enhanced both care coordination and surgical readiness. April's leadership brings clarity, accountability, and measurable improvements to patient outcomes and operational efficiency.
Nomination 4:
April is an outstanding leader who has made a significant impact on patient care and excellence, provider engagement, team member connection, and overall operational excellence and optimization of systems. She not only leads a team at a specific site but is an integral leader for System Perioperative Services. Her influence, expertise, attention to detail, ability to engage with all involved, and consistency are exceedingly high. She is always professional, seeks to understand, is curious about improvement and innovation, and has been a key leader in converting several high-yield processes and projects into excellence. She is instrumental in further developing and optimizing the OR case scheduling and PreOperative Operations. The Perioperative Strategic Plan 2025 includes two important and complex initiatives: OR Scheduling and PreOp Preparation. Her work is innovative and inclusive. We have restructured and continue to innovate in these two areas, and could not have been this successful without her tenacity and strong leadership. She is a patient, physician, and team member advocate. She is always cheerful, positive, and flexible, meeting the needs of all stakeholders. The OAHCAPS are favorable due to her leadership. She is respected by peers, providers, and team members. In my career as VP Perioperative Services, I have found her to be in the top 5% of successful managers. She is a joy to work with.
