My husband was admitted on Tuesday. He had been referred to NYP/Weill Cornell by his PCP because he was experiencing a facial droop, change in speech, and trouble finding words. After numerous tests and finally an MRI, it was determined that he had a stroke. We were both devastated upon learning this since he is a HEALTHY and active 71-year-old man. He was both angry and upset that this happened to him. The neurology department said that they needed to admit him to monitor him closely and administer the necessary medications. My husband had never been in a hospital overnight before, and he was very anxious. Fortunately, I was able to stay in the room with him. The night nurse, Dawa, was awesome. She was very patient and always available when my husband needed help to get out of bed to use the restroom, etc.
