Leakou cared for my dad at the VA hospital. She has a bubbly and positive approach to caring not only for her patients, but also for those who visit her patients. She could make Dad laugh even if he was in pain. She never blinked an eye when Dad’s portion of the room was filled with my brothers, grandchildren, my mom, and me. She would just smile and get us another chair.

Leakou has a true calling to be a VA nurse. She has an uncanny ability to make you feel good even when you aren’t feeling good physically. Leakou cared for Dad on his last day in the hospital. She joked with him and made him laugh. Being able to laugh was so important to Dad.

Thank you, Leakou, for helping him laugh on one of his last days before he passed away. Thank you for all the laughs you gave Dad. If there were more people like you, the world would be a much nicer place.
