Lauren’s unwavering commitment to improving outcomes and supporting her colleagues truly reflects the heart of nursing.
It is with great pride and gratitude that I nominate Lauren Young for the DAISY Award. Lauren exemplifies our hospital’s mission: “Above all else, we are committed to the care and improvement of human life.” Her dedication to clinical excellence, education, and team development has made a lasting impact on both patients and staff. This quarter, Lauren provided essential support in the creation and review of key educational resources, including the OB emergency binders, huddle cards, maternal drills, and simulation checklists. Her thoughtful input has strengthened the preparedness of our teams and improved the quality of education across Women’s Services. Following an adverse outcome at Southern Hills, Lauren helped develop and lead targeted shoulder dystocia drills for her unit. Her leadership in these efforts promoted teamwork, readiness, and ultimately, safer patient care. Lauren is also a trusted mentor and role model to her peers. She willingly shares her knowledge, provides thoughtful guidance, and fosters a supportive learning environment.
In addition, she has been instrumental in the growth of our new graduate program—assisting in curriculum design, resource development, and individualized support for new nurses. Moreover, she plays a key role in developing future nurse educators by training them as an NRP instructor and offering ongoing support in their journey as either a facility or TTP educator. Her passion for learning and collaboration has created a culture of excellence and compassion. Lauren’s unwavering commitment to improving outcomes and supporting her colleagues truly reflects the heart of nursing. She is a shining example of what it means to live our mission every day.
