Brenda is not only an incredible nurse, but she is also a compassionate and caring person. Throughout our 10-day stay, Brenda treated my dad with love and respect. He felt safe with her and was at peace in her presence. She encouraged him, held his hand, joked with him, and talked to him, making him smile despite his dementia and illness. No matter what was needed, from giving meds to cleaning up messes, Brenda did it all with a smile and never once acted like anything was a bother. She always asked if there was anything else she could do to help.

As for myself, she also took the time to comfort me during times of not-so-good news. She patiently explained all of my questions and even had me buzz her when the doctor came in so she could help me understand everything that was discussed. She checked on me and always asked if there was anything I needed. I felt like she cared for my dad and me, just like we were part of her own family. She went above and beyond the call of duty, and I will always be grateful to have had such an amazing person during a very difficult time. She is truly one in a million and deserves to be awarded for her extraordinary skills and compassion.
