I would like to nominate Johnathan Yoo from the Neurology unit for the DAISY Award. From the moment he introduced himself, he explained how he was there to make sure my daughter, S, was well taken care of and attended to. She was brought in for having multiple seizures and was put on an EMU to be observed. Johnathan was very caring and knowledgeable, and he explained how experienced he is with dealing with seizure patients. He made sure that she knew he would be by her side, assisting the moment she had a medical emergency. Johnathan constantly checked in with me to see how the patient, as well as I, were doing. He was compassionate and very understanding of the situation. His knowledge was proven to be true as S had 7 seizures under his incredible care. Johnathan was always so professional, and his comfort, care, and concern went above and beyond during a very stressful time. Johnathan stayed later than his shift to make sure she was stable and ok to respond before he left. S has been hospitalized many times in her 27 years, but Johnathan’s care plan, quick responses, and calm ways truly helped ease the angst we both had. As a mother, watching my daughter while she is seizing is always frightening and scary; just as much as I know it is for her to be physically experiencing it. Johnathan's care was a blessing to me; in a time of difficulty, he truly eased the pain.
