Miss Lucie listened to him without judgment. His PTSD and depression were affecting every single part of his life, our marriage, his parenting, and his job. She discussed medical options with him as well as ways that he could manage his work schedule.
I would like to nominate Lucianne Wiggins for the DAISY Award.  My husband and I started using Southeast Health in 2019. We have always gotten exceptional care.  We see Miss Lucie more often because her availability just seems to work more with our schedules.  My husband is a Veteran.  He served in the United States Army for 13 years.  He was Special Forces. For MANY years, he has suffered with PTSD and Depression.  Miss Lucie has always monitored medication for his depression with the utmost care.

In January of this year, he started spiraling.  He became severely depressed, his PTSD symptoms were becoming more severe, and he told me he had done all he could do, and he desperately needed help.  I called Southeast Health as soon as they opened that Monday morning, and he was given an appointment with Miss Lucie the next day. He was an emotional wreck. Nightmares and flashbacks were keeping him up around the clock and haunting his thoughts.  He was in a very dark place. Miss Lucie spent a lot of time with him during that appointment.  She listened to him without judgment. His PTSD and depression were affecting every single part of his life, our marriage, his parenting, and his job. She discussed medical options with him as well as ways that he could manage his work schedule.

She drafted an extensive letter to send to a DNP who specializes in working with veterans with PTSD and depression.  It is extremely difficult to get in to see her, but Miss Lucie made it happen through her letter, correspondence through email, and phone calls to her office.  Miss Lucie also helped us navigate the process of my husband being on short-term disability for a short period of time in order to work through this difficult journey.

I know that everyone in the medical field is extremely overworked and stretched thin!  Miss Lucie TOOK THE TIME to reach out and help my husband.  She showed him kindness and compassion.  You see, my husband doesn't get emotional or ask for help!  As a veteran, he has seen so many things that will ALWAYS be with him.  He has just "tucked them away" for all of these years.  It takes forever to get help for a veteran through the VA, so we have chosen to go through civilian doctors. We are on the road to recovery.  My husband is much better medically, and he will be starting counseling in the near future.  It will be a long journey, but we have hope now.

We will never be able to thank Miss Lucy enough for her professionalism, knowledge, compassion, and kindness!  She has blessed our lives in a MIGHTY WAY!!  I will always give thanks for her seeing our need, stepping in, and giving us hope! THANK YOU, MISS LUCIE!!  WE LOVE YOU!
