I was a patient on the antepartum unit for 2 weeks, and Ashlyn was my nurse several days during my stay. I was there due to Vasa Previa, and it’s a risk to the baby. While I was there, I also developed pre-eclampsia, which was scary. Ashlyn gave exceptional care and kindness during my 2-week stay. She was a true light during a very difficult time. She went far beyond the call of duty, not only tending to my medical needs with expertise and skill, but also always offering compassion, reassurance, and a listening ear when I needed it most. She was my nurse the day my baby was born. She noticed something on the non-stress test the night before and then again in the morning. The doctor then took a look and decided it was go time. I was shocked by the sudden change and terrified to have a C-section. It was happening so fast, and I was panicked. I will never forget Ashlyn’s calm presence during uncertain moments, her gentle encouragement as she held my shoulders while I got my spinal. And the way she treated me with dignity and warmth. She never left my side. She was also with me in recovery and was the first one to discover the blood clot and reacted quickly in getting the doctor so I could get the treatment I needed. Her medical knowledge and tending to my needs were always spot on. I will never forget the comfort she provided me and the strength she helped me find.
