Deb’s impact and her relentless efforts ensure that new employees feel safe and ready to join our team, and our department's educational needs are exceeded.
The Critical Care Division would like to recognize our ICU/4N/Central Monitoring and Wound care ROSS Deb as an Extraordinary Nurse Educator. Deb is someone who works tirelessly to ensure that not only are our new employees set up for success, but we as a leadership team are as well. Deb is someone who the term "hard worker" could not describe. Deb works endlessly through the day and night, meeting the needs of those she serves to ensure that they have all the tools necessary to succeed in their new role as they join our team. Deb’s impact and her relentless efforts ensure that new employees feel safe and ready to join our team, and our department's educational needs are exceeded. Deb collaborates with all her team and interdepartmental team members to ensure the accuracy of new educational materials, to provide the ICU and step-down surgical unit with up-to-date information that is easy to understand and appropriate. Deb has made an impact in her area and profession through being beyond dedicated to those around her and putting the needs of us all before herself.

Deb has been very helpful to the new leaders in our departments.  Her experience and knowledge have been a huge help to them.  She is always quick to respond to any questions and concerns and has stayed late several days to go over plans. Team members feel very supported by her and appreciate all that she does for our team.  She manages to handle a heavy workload with a wonderful attitude.

Deb consistently goes above and beyond providing support and guidance, always making herself available to provide direction, answer questions, and offer expertise despite the demands of her workload.

Her responsiveness and tireless assistance ensure that all staff members feel supported, confident, and capable in their roles.

Her knowledge and compassion provide guidance with patience and clarity, which fosters an environment of growth and continuous learning for nursing staff.

Her ability to balance her responsibilities while remaining an invaluable resource to the team demonstrates the true spirit of nursing education.

Deb manages the entire Critical Care division, which consists of 246 employees. She onboarded 59 RNs, 24 PCAs, 6 Monitor techs, and 116 travelers throughout the year, whether they were returning or new. Deb consistently leads this team through their onboarding by spending quality time with them and ensuring that they are competent as well as comfortable in their new roles. With only one AD for the entire division, she makes herself available to both day shift and night shift by being visible and present on the night shift for our team members. She meets weekly 1:1 with all new hires until they have completed their orientation, and then at least monthly to ensure success. Deb played a vital role in our turnover improvements from 2023 to 2024, and it is quite remarkable. Results for ICU 2023 = 14.89 for all and 14.38 for RNs. 2024 ICU 8.3 for all employees and 4.6 for RNs. 4N 2023 for all 30.38 and 36.36 for RNs, 2024 for all employees 19.47 and 8.22 for RNs. This is incredible work on retention and Deb is a major contributor in this work. She is also instrumental in the VOICE score results, and we have seen improvements in those as well.

Deb is a certified RN with her master’s degree and takes education seriously, she shares her knowledge and expertise without fail. She is loyal, dedicated and professional. She develops meaningful and lasting relationships building trust along the way. She is an example and a role model to our team.

Deb is simply amazing and a force to be reckoned with when things need to get done. She is a hard worker and shows great pride in her work. She takes on her leadership responsibly fiercely in ensuring that the team members education and competency needs are met, she is an advocate for change for the betterment of our patients, our team and our organization and we are grateful for her and all her efforts in our success.
