She doesn’t just ask about medications and all the scary medical stuff; she cares immensely about your mental and emotional health while giving the best advice for the situation.
This amazing, kind-hearted woman has been an angel sent from above! I’ve spent a week on the ward and had well over ten midwives. I felt ignored and as if my symptoms were being downplayed until this hardworking, amazing woman stepped in. I don’t think I could manage to put into words just how much she goes above and beyond for her patients. It’s not just for me; all her patients are talking about her and are astounded by her drive to do her job to the fullest!

I was scared, anxious, in a lot of pain, and quite poorly before she stepped in. She said enough was enough. She made me a promise that she would help me and get me listened to, and that’s exactly what she did. She spends her entire shift constantly with all her patients, attending to every need and request. She uses any spare time to complete work at the desk, but as soon as that buzzer is pressed, she doesn’t just send another worker to do it for her; she rushes to your side immediately, eager to help.

On her first shift with me, she could tell I was scared and hurting a lot. She comforted me and built a connection with me. Even when her shift ended at 7 PM, because she knew I needed a procedure and was scared, she stayed at work and by my side until gone 11 PM, holding my hand through it all and really showing what it is to be a true midwife with a caring heart.

She makes it her mission to get to know each patient on a personal level, too. She doesn’t just ask about medications and all the scary medical stuff; she cares immensely about your mental and emotional health while giving the best advice for the situation. I had an expensive, brand-new bottle taken from my steriliser and was extremely emotional about it, feeling like it was the end of my world. I also felt a bit stupid for getting so upset, but not once did Roz downplay the situation; instead, she was just as angry as I was. She informed all her colleagues to look out for it and even went on a hunt for it herself. Unfortunately, we were unsuccessful, but three days later, when she came back on shift, she made it one of her priorities to keep looking for it. In contrast, the other staff weren’t bothered and told me not to be upset over just a bottle, that I could just buy a new one!

I was struggling with breastfeeding and getting the baby to latch, but I was so tired and worried about having the baby on me through the night alone. She stayed with me for over an hour at 1 AM and helped me achieve a perfect latch and bond with the baby while ensuring I didn’t have to be anxious about anything happening if I fell asleep, as she was right there by my side the whole time. She managed to do in an hour what every other midwife wouldn’t even be bothered to attempt to help me with for over a week, and it was because she cared enough to help. She didn’t just give up and leave me hopeless.

She follows protocol to a T and doesn’t cut any corners with anything. If she sees a mistake somewhere, whether it’s from a colleague or something else, she sorts it thoroughly! She is truly a credit to the entire hospital and NHS foundation, and she deserves a much higher award than any I could nominate her for. This really is the very least she deserves. It’s not just one shift here and there that she’s like this for; it’s every single time she’s in. You even hear her colleagues constantly saying how busy she is and that she should just sit down or leave at the exact time her shift ends, but she doesn’t listen or become lazy. She stays until she sees the job through! She’s talented, kind-hearted, caring, and her work ethic is unreal!

Please give the biggest thanks to her on behalf of not just me but all her patients (we’ve all been talking about how amazing she is).
