Phil did an amazing job, was wonderful with my brother, and went above and beyond with this explanation of everything.
My husband was admitted to the Neuro ICU following seizures that he wasn’t coming out of. After one week on a ventilator, we made the decision to stop all artificial life support. Phil was his nurse on what would be the last day of his life. Phil was just what we needed on what is the worst day of our life. Phil treated us like family. He was compassionate beyond measure. He treated my husband with dignity. While preparing my husband for ending life support, Phil covered him with a soft blanket. It was cold in the room and Phil brought us heated blankets. Phil told us he only recently became a nurse, but his care skills are of those with many years of experience. Our family will always remember Phil for how he was there for us.

Phil is a phenomenal nurse. He went above and beyond in the care needed. He walked us through every action step by step and helped us in understanding my father’s care. When we were informed that my father was not going to make it and we had to make that decision, Phil took me on a walk. He related to me as a person who has suffered loss personally and provided comfort and empathy. It was his support that helped us through this terrible time. He gave us items that made this transition slightly more tolerable and was the most amazing care-giving professional that I have ever encountered.

My mother was transferred from St. Mary’s ER to Philip’s department. We had no clue that mom had cancer that metastasized to her brain, and it was causing a lot of brain swelling. We have a very big family that came to see her. Philip not only was wonderful to mom, his patient, but his kindness and compassion was exemplary. His demeanor and his knowledge as to what was happening was very reassuring to us. We felt like she was in the hands of family. We would love to thank Philip for his remarkable care and patience with the entire family and our questions. Thank you so much Philip!

Philip was always a very caring nurse. He went beyond what he had to do for me. He made me coffee when I forgot my coffee. It was really good! He always does what he doesn’t have to do for me. He is always very kind, and I have never seen him angry. He was always very encouraging when I had to go for tests. He was like my own son taking care of me. I’m glad I had him for my nurse. Loved this guy!

Phil has been incredible in the hardest time in our family’s life. Losing our father/husband/brother/grandfather/uncle after several months of hospitalizations. Neuro ICU staff has been the most incredible to our family. Phil has gone above and beyond for our family. His kindness, patience, and compassion have been a godsend in this season. We will be forever grateful for Phil B and Neuro ICU staff during this heartbreaking experience.

Phil has been very attentive to my aunt while in his care. He is very observant and thorough. He always cared for the family while we visited. Phil is calm and has a loving soul. He felt like family. Phil explained everything with details and never rushed to answer questions. Phil was patient and kind. When it was time to transfer from aunt from ICU to skilled nursing, he personally made sure that everything went smoothly and took care of all the small and big details. We were protected (issues with family occurred) by the entire staff, but Phil made us feel even more safe. Phil was an amazing nurse, and I wouldn’t have wanted anyone else to take care of my aunt while we were at Community.

Our dear friend, age 84, is hospitalized for a hemorrhagic stroke. As a dear friend of the family, I found his wife in total dismay when I came to visit in the Neuro ICU. I quickly gathered that her ability to cope as a supportive wife, she was greatly challenged. Philip was very sensitive to our need to know what presently was going on, as well as what goals were expected for recovery. Philip communicated very clearly and took ample time to teach us what the plan of care involved. He mentioned nutrition needs, pain assessment, definition of brain bleed and brain pressure, the role of sodium infusions for stroke patients, pain management, activity level, including OT and PT, and the meds they’re using to stabilize blood pressure in order to prevent further stroke. The straight catheter they used and why. He took the time to explain all of this not only increasing our understanding of the physical condition but also turning our fears and helpless feelings into hope. We gained assurance that he and his teammates (including the physicians and all staff) were doing everything possible for our loved ones' well-being. I would like to nominate Philip for going above and beyond the call of duty in his compassionate and caring ways.

Phil did an amazing job, was wonderful with my brother, and went above and beyond with this explanation of everything. He even got the prescription for me since I was going to miss getting to the pharmacy on time.

He is very good at what he does. Very caring and dedicated. He answered every time we called on him.
