She fosters an environment where students feel safe to grow, to fail, to try again, and ultimately, to become the best versions of themselves. She exemplifies what it means to lead with both knowledge and heart.
Jordan Baker is more than an instructor; she is offline, a mentor, and the embodiment of what it means to be a nurse. Nursing school is one of the most challenging journeys a student can undertake filled with self doubt, sleepless nights, and moments of wondering if we were truly cut out for this profession. For many of us, Jordan Baker was the light in those moments of uncertainty, guiding us with unwavering support and a heart full of compassion.
During my third semester, I was struggling not just academically but emotionally. I questioned if I had what it took to step into the world of critical care, to make the kind of difference I had always dreamed of. She recognized my struggles before I even spoke them aloud, and she made it her mission to ensure that I not only succeeded but that I believed in myself every step of the way. She is not only a professor; she is a nurse in the truest sense of the word. She doesn't just educate, she nurtures, uplifts, and inspires. She fosters an environment where students feel safe to grow, to fail, to try again, and ultimately, to become the best versions of themselves. She exemplifies what it means to lead with both knowledge and heart. She taught me more than critical care concepts; she taught me what intentionality means, what it means to truly care for people beyond their diagnosis, and what it means to be a haven for those in need. Her office was always open, not just for academic questions but for the moments when we just needed someone to listen. Because of her, I found the strength to seek the help I needed. Jordan Baker saved my life, and because of her, I now have the privilege of saving others.
As I prepare to begin my career as a nurse, I do so with confidence and purpose. I've accepted a position in the ICU something I never would have imagined I would feel ready for. But because of Jordan Baker, I am not just ready I am excited, I am capable, and I know that I belong in this field. She saw something in me that I couldn't see in myself, and I will carry her lessons and her spirit into every patient room I step into. Jordan Baker deserves this honor not just because she is an outstanding educator but because she changes lives. Every student who has had the privilege of learning from her will tell you the same she is beyond exceptional. Daisies represent humility, loyalty, and kindness, and Jordan Baker is the very embodiment of these qualities. It is with my whole heart that I nominate Jordan Baker for the DAISY Award because there is no one more deserving. She is not only shaping the future of nursing, she is shaping the nurses who will go on to change the world.
