She's flexible and empathetic, always meeting us where we are and adjusting her approach to meet the needs of different learners. These qualities make her not only an incredible instructor but someone we genuinely look up to as we grow into the nursing profession.
Professor Hendricks consistently demonstrates what it means to be a compassionate, knowledgeable, and dedicated nursing professional. She serves as a role model not only through her clinical expertise but also through the way she advocates for students and upholds the values of the nursing profession. She goes above and beyond to ensure we understand complex topics, taking extra time outside of class to provide resources and support, especially in preparation for HESI exams.
As a mentor, she has been an incredible source of guidance for our entire cohort, encouraging us to grow both academically and professionally. Her leadership within the Student Nurses Association has also inspired many of us to take on more active roles and engage in service and leadership opportunities. Professor Hendricks sets the standard for what we all hope to become as future nurses.
Professor Hendricks brings such a fun energy and passion to teaching that is truly inspiring. Her unique teaching style keeps us engaged and focused, even during our 4.5-hour lectures- a feat that speaks volumes about her ability to connect with students. She has a remarkable way of making complex material not only understandable but enjoyable, often incorporating humor, storytelling, and real-world examples that bring nursing to life. It's very clear that she genuinely loves what she does- whether it's acute care, mentoring future nurses, or simply sharing her experiences. What makes her even more admirable is her humility and openness to learning. When faced with a question she doesn't immediately know the answer to, she is honest and uses it as a learning opportunity, reminding us to "lean in" and remain curious, just as she does. This openness models lifelong learning and perfectly embodies the spirit of nursing education.
One of the things that stands out most about Professor Hendricks is how approachable and supportive she is. She creates a learning environment where we feel safe to ask questions, no matter how small they may seem. Her constant encouragement to seek clarity has made a lasting impact on me and many of my classmates. She never makes anyone feel embarrassed or judged- instead, she reminds us that asking questions is a sign of curiosity and growth. What's even more meaningful is her awareness that not all students feel comfortable speaking up in class. She regularly reassures us that her door is always open-whether it's through office hours, email, or just stopping by to talk-and genuinely means it. Her compassion, patience, and willingness to meet us where we are show how deeply she respects us as learners and as future professionals. Professor Hendricks exemplifies the personal qualities that help foster both personal and professional growth in her students.
Her caring nature is felt in the way she takes time to check in on how we're doing, both academically and emotionally. She shows patience and understanding, especially when we're struggling to grasp difficult content, and she never makes anyone feel rushed or inadequate, instead she validates the complexity of topics to reassure us and prevent discouragement. Her confidence in the material and in our abilities helps boost our own self-confidence, reminding us that we are capable of becoming strong, competent nurses. She also models integrity through her transparency, never pretending to know everything but instead showing us the value of humility and lifelong learning. Most of all, she's flexible and empathetic, always meeting us where we are and adjusting her approach to meet the needs of different learners. These qualities make her not only an incredible instructor but someone we genuinely look up to as we grow into the nursing profession. Professor Hendricks is always fair and unbiased in her treatment of students. She makes sure every student feels heard and respected, both in the classroom and in one-on-one interactions. For example, when students ask questions or share different viewpoints, she responds with patience and professionalism, never showing favoritism. Her grading is clear and based strictly on the rubric, and she's always open to explaining feedback if something isn't understood. She treats everyone equally, no matter their background or academic performance.
Professor Hendricks demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills through her approachable and supportive nature. She communicates clearly and respectfully, making it easy for students to ask questions or seek guidance. Even during stressful times, she remains calm, kind, and professional, helping students feel more at ease. Her ability to connect with students individually while maintaining professionalism creates a positive and welcoming learning environment where everyone feels comfortable and motivated to succeed. Professor Hendricks fosters strong collaborative relationships with both students and colleagues. She encourages open communication and teamwork, making students feel like valued members of the learning process rather than just participants. As the advisor for SNA, she's incredibly supportive and helpful to the board, always providing thoughtful feedback that helps us work better together and be more engaging with our members. Her respectful and cooperative attitude creates a positive environment that motivates everyone to do their best and grow as a team.
