Kristin was one of my main preceptors when I was training in the Family Birthplace. Kristin is exceptionally skilled as a preceptor; she patiently answers all questions without judgment, provides a safe space for learning, encourages new challenges and opportunities, advocates for new nurses, and more. This was incredibly helpful for me as a new nurse trying to learn many new things in a short amount of time. Beyond being an exceptional teacher, Kristin made me feel welcomed, seen, and valued in this new role. When it was easy to feel discouraged and defeated as a new nurse, Kristin acknowledged my accomplishments, encouraged me, made me feel included, and empowered me to feel more confident as a nurse. I am so grateful I learned from her and continue to learn from her even after orientation has ended.
