Raven stayed honest, transparent, and supportive. She gave the utmost professional and caring support to me, my son, and our situation.
My son and I spent NYE in the hospital. I brought him in because he seemed to be struggling to breathe and had a ton of congestion. My son tested positive for RSV & due to only being 7 weeks old, he was admitted. While waiting for a room, I started experiencing severe abdominal pain. I told a few nurses about the pain I felt because it was unlike anything I've experienced before. My lower right side was sore to the touch.

Raven showed us to the room that we were assigned. I kept calling for her via the nurse button because I was struggling with the room temperature. I had chills so badly that I couldn't even sit comfortably in the room, otherwise lay down or try to relax. Raven kindly tried to remediate the room temperature probably 4-5x at my request. Every time she would come into the room, she would remind me of my option to have someone swap in so I could go to the ER & check myself in. However, this option didn't seem plausible to me. My husband was home with our other children - 4, 8 & 13 year old. My 4-year-old had RSV too... we have no family in the area, so I chose to sit there in pain, thinking I might be able to check myself into the ER whenever my son got discharged...  At one point, I could barely get up to change or feed my son. Raven, without hesitation, stepped in to help me with him, with every little thing... Unbeknownst to me, Raven had gone above & beyond to advocate for me to get triaged in the pediatric ward. Around 1-2am, intake & a nurse from the adult side showed up to get my vitals, which truly meant everything in that moment. With Raven & the pediatric floor's support, I was able to get a CT scan, IV, bloodwork, urine culture & ultrasound, all of which showed that I had a UTI & appendicitis.

There I was, 3-4 am, hysterically sobbing on the Raven's shoulder as she hugged me & told me it was going to be OK. Raven stayed honest, transparent, and supportive. She gave the utmost professional and caring support to me, my son, and our situation. She assisted with my son being discharged as well as my hysterical self while I was having to get ready to be admitted to my own room on a different floor. Raven stayed with my son until my husband could come and get him. She was there past her shift time to ensure a smooth transition for my family.

There truly aren't words to describe how great of a nurse Raven is, aside from all the ways she went above & beyond to help me personally. I truly felt safe with Raven and felt that she would make sure my son got the best care in my absence. That feeling in itself is priceless and I am forever grateful. Everyone was truly working as a team to help me on NYE and I really hope they all get the recognition they deserve, especially Raven!!
