Our baby boy was diagnosed with a rare congenital condition in utero, which resulted in the need for a lifesaving surgery following an emergency C-section. During our multiple week NICU stay, my husband and I had to navigate not only being first-time parents, but also having our brand-new baby undergo massive surgical intervention.

Chloe was a constant source of encouragement and reassurance through the whole process. From personalizing our NICU board to match our little one's nursery at home, to empowering us by including us as much as possible in our little one's care, Chloe's presence was a huge source of comfort. Because of how rare our son's condition was, it was something that many of the hospital clinical staff had not witnessed before, and Chloe took it upon herself to learn everything she could to ensure that we had the best information available and that the questions we had were asked and answered.

Most important of all, Chloe made sure our son wanted for nothing and was as comfortable as possible. She took the time to learn his cues, personality, and unique needs so that he was as comfortable during his NICU stay. Our family looked forward to seeing Chloe every day, and on the few days when we were unable to spend much time at the hospital, it was such a source of reassurance knowing that Chloe was there, taking care of him.

Chloe was innovative in finding ways to soothe our son, even modifying his pacifier to allow him to have the comfort of it around his intubation. My husband and I are forever grateful for Chloe's tireless dedication, encouragement, compassion, and passion for helping our son through this extremely difficult time.
