Erwig was a wonderful nurse for me today. He reminded me of one of my favorite childhood movies “Patch Adams,” caring for our patients with humor. Hospital visits bring on anxiety, so to have a nurse who can make the experience better with some humor is always nice. After all, laughter is the best medicine.

Erwig was very personable and asked questions about my life. He shared a beautiful and inspiring story about his daughter being accepted to university and made me feel like he cared about being my nurse. I didn't feel like I was just patient X in room number 0. He was respectful, courteous, knowledgeable regarding the medicine he gave me, and answered all my questions. Perfect bedside manners. It's one thing to be a nurse who follows protocol and procedures, but another thing to have a nurse who shows interest in their patient beyond their medical needs.

As a patient, being heard is very important. Thank you, Erwig, for going above and beyond! I enjoyed the experience so much that I called my best friend who lives in Boston to tell her about you, your humor, and the one story about your daughter. Keep your humor and keep your kind spirit!
