Kelly’s compassion for this patient and his family showed through her interactions with them throughout the shift.
Kelly is consistently a compassionate, hard-working nurse, but today, she excelled even more than she usually does.
Her patient was pretty sick in the hospital and received news that his wife’s health took a turn for the worse, and she would likely pass in the next couple of days. Kelly worked tirelessly throughout her entire shift (even forgoing a lunch break) to arrange for this patient to leave the hospital to see his wife one last time before she passed, and then to return to the hospital to continue getting the care he needed for his own health.
Kelly worked with the family, the patient, the doctors, the case manager, and Lifeline, coordinating all of these disciplines in order to arrange this.
Kelly’s compassion for this patient and his family showed through her interactions with them throughout the shift. She offered to FaceTime or coordinate any kind of phone calls, and she communicated thoroughly with the family. I could tell she was truly sorry that her patient was going through this.
She is truly one of the most compassionate and hard-working nurses for her patients that I have ever worked with, and I thought she deserved to be recognized for her efforts today.
