It is with great honor that I nominate Mrs. Stacey Lentz, RN, BSN for the DAISY Award. Working in the outpatient clinic at the Heart & Vascular Institute’s Nyes Road office for six and a half years, Mrs. Lentz is the foundation of this practice site. Patients have come to rely on Mrs. Lentz for educational information and reviewing short and long-term care strategies. As a clinician my colleagues and I have come to rely on Stacey given her ability to make patients and family members feel comfortable during their office visit. Stacey quickly and readily establishes a relationship with patients and family members and these relationships are sustained not only at the time of their office visit but throughout the years.
It is remarkable and a testament to Stacey’s level of professionalism and skill that patients and family members turn to her for advice with issues not always related to cardiovascular disease. I was touched by the empathy and caring that Stacey demonstrated towards the wife of one patient after her husband died from cancer. The patient’s wife came to the clinic just to thank her for her care and compassion exhibited not only to her husband (our patient) but to her as well.
Stacey is a role model in the office and whenever a new staff member arrives, Stacey is available for training and always makes them feel part of the team. The Nyes Road outpatient clinic has been recognized for its level of quality care and it is my firm belief that this is a direct reflection of the nurses.
Stacey Lentz is intelligent, personable, compassionate, dedicated, thoughtful and a consummate professional. My patients and their families have been blessed by her presence.
