Claire listens to understand the concerns of patients, families, and associates, and seeks out resources to help resolve or escalate them.
Serving Together:
Claire always goes above and beyond the call of duty in pursuing excellence in patient care.
When we are short-staffed, Claire assists with rebalancing the schedule and reaches out to associates with the 14-day look-ahead.
Claire is very flexible in her schedule, sometimes filling in a gap if needed.
Claire takes initiative to streamline processes.
Claire seeks out guidance when new initiatives come out to understand the why, so she can pass this to our frontline associates to help them understand, so 5 East can exceed expectations on the outcomes.
Claire is always available to give advice and problem-solve with families, patients, and associates.
Claire has a strong understanding of the department and will often seek out her resources from other departments to advise and collaborate with.
Claire is an essential part of 5 East, especially during the move from 3 West to 5 East. She helped plan and organize the new unit and continues daily to take suggestions from staff and turn them into reality. For example, making sure the supply rooms have the needed supplies that the staff need. She worked with Central supply to switch supply rooms and equipment rooms and eliminate station 2 supply room.
Claire takes initiative to opportunities seeking our feedback from staff for solutions to workflows and processes.
Claire sits on numerous committees, such as NCC, Recognition, and the system practice council, and represents ABMC and 5 East in her participation, providing feedback, ideas, and solutions to opportunities.
Listens to Understand:
Claire listens to understand the concerns of patients, families, and associates, and seeks out resources to help resolve or escalate them.
If associates come to her with concerns, she listens and asks for solutions. She escalates if she needs guidance.
Extending Kindness:
Claire makes it a priority that everyone on the team gets an opportunity to speak, share ideas, and express concerns. She has a very open-door policy and is very approachable.
Claire helps with onboarding new associates. She makes sure they feel welcomed and confident in their new role. She checks in with them almost daily to see if they have any concerns or questions she can answer.
Claire has always been welcoming to each new staff on the floor. Ensuring that we feel supported and heard when we have concerns as a new employee at Alexian Brothers. She is always willing to offer a helping hand on the floor even when she is busy with her own duties. When making the schedule, she always tries to ensure that everyone has a schedule that works for them, even with many employees with different needs. One time, I needed an NG tube placed in a patient who was very confused, blind, and could not speak English well. She was so understanding and caring while placing the NG. The patient felt calm during the entire thing, and it was the smoothest insertion. That is truly how Claire treats everyone. I hope I can be half the nurse and leader she is one day. She is very deserving of a DAISY, but she never looks for the spotlight or praise. Truly doing everything out of the kindness of her heart. What an example and great leader for our unit!
Claire is an amazing nurse and is now also an amazing leader. She takes the time to listen to you, both on personal and work-related concerns. She is always positive, even when she needs to address situations where there is room for growth. I totally support her nomination as a leader.
