We were only 9 hours in the ICU, and Trent had already eased my mind.
My son was admitted to the ICU. This was a very tense time for our family, and our emotions were all over the place. Upon returning to his room, we were met by Trent, who introduced himself and shared that his goal was to make sure my son had the best care. Trent reassured us that not only was my son his top priority, but that his family's care was equally important. We were only 9 hours in the ICU, and Trent had already eased my mind. Here is why: Trent explained every dose of medication my son received (name of med, amount, and frequency). Trent communicated with my son, the patient, about what he was doing even though my son could not communicate with him. Trent asked me questions about my feelings, if I needed to speak to anyone to get clarification about treatment, and explained what information I had received from the doctor. Trent communicated test results immediately. When he wasn't sure of the language, he emailed the doctor to get him to come speak with me. Trent's commitment to patient/family care is by far the best I've seen in years. I was comfortable stepping away from my son to eat or get fresh air. I wasn't afraid I was going to miss information or that my son's care would be poor if I wasn't present. Trent never made me feel like I was in the way or unwelcome. I was very pleased with the care my son received from Trent. Salute!!!
