This educator has been a shining star for critical care and has advanced the ability to provide high-quality, compassionate care to patients.
This educator has been with TriHealth / Bethesda North for over 5 years, during that time she has obtained her BSN and MSN in education, as well as her CCRN. She has expertise in critical care and mechanical circulatory support.

This educator is committed to increasing the knowledge and skills of her team, as well as in many other areas of the hospital. This educator was instrumental in assisting with an evidence-based practice (EBP) project regarding implementing extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) in the emergency department.  The educator is viewed as a subject matter expert and assisted the EBP leadership team in developing processes and guidance for correct patient identification in the ED setting. The educator acted as a liaison between the cardiovascular team and the ED team to ensure smooth processes during very critical clinical interventions. This educator offers near real-time follow-up for the patients who have been ECMO candidates in the ED. The work that she has done is integral to the success of the ED ECMO project.

This educator provides simulation learning to her team for ECMO cannulation, ECPR, LVAD care and equipment management, and many other skills and proficiencies needed for the acutely ill complex critical care patient. Weekly education “tip of the week” is provided to the team by this educator after identifying learning needs. This educator partners with her team on evidence-based projects (CAUTI reduction, turn team for reduction of HAPI) and various unit QI initiatives. This educator, along with a peer, developed a critical care fellowship program for all new hires in critical care to improve knowledge, skills, and retention.

This educator was instrumental in implementing the guidelines for code stroke transfer for cardiac patients, LVAD clinical practice guidelines, and ECMO quarterly competencies, as well as ensuring her team maintains competencies with all mechanical circulatory support devices. This educator partnered with physicians to develop critical care transport algorithms and then worked with the transport team to ensure safe, quality transport for the critically ill patient needing to go to a higher level of care.

This educator was recruited to be a national expert on nursing education and care of the patient on ECMO by Novalung, the manufacturer of the ECMO equipment.

This educator has been a shining star for critical care and has advanced the ability to provide high-quality, compassionate care to patients. Their knowledge, efficiency, dedication, and commitment are second to none. We consider ourselves blessed to have this educator on our team.
