Through personalised guidance, comprehensive training, and a deep understanding of their unique challenges, Shaverick has helped hundreds of IENs successfully transition into registered nursing roles, enhancing the diversity and strength of the Trust’s nursing workforce.
I am honoured to nominate Shaverick Granpil for the DAISY Award in recognition of his exceptional enthusiasm and leadership as a Lead Practice Educator. Shaverick consistently goes above and beyond to make sure that the Internationally Educated Nurses (IENs) receive high-quality education, training and development, and pastoral care making an invaluable impact to the workforce and patients at ENHT.

Shaverick has been a determined advocate for IENs, supporting them from the start of their UK journey towards achieving their nursing registration, and even after they are already integrated in their allocated clinical areas. Through personalised guidance, comprehensive training, and a deep understanding of their unique challenges, Shaverick has helped hundreds of IENs successfully transition into registered nursing roles, enhancing the diversity and strength of the Trust’s nursing workforce.

Shaverick also plays a key role in the success of the SIFE (Supporting Information from Employers) Programme, particularly for IENs in Band 2-4 working in non-registered roles in the Trust to undertake the OSCE training, examination, and eventually getting their NMC pin. On top of his main job role as the lead OSCE facilitator, Shaverick is also leading on Clinical Skills (IV Drugs Administration, Peripheral Cannulation and Venepuncture, NG Tube Insertion Training) delivery - ensuring nurses, midwives, CSWs, and radiographers receive top-notch training that is both thorough and relevant, instilling assurance and a sense of belonging within the workforce; Clinical Induction – warranting that each new staff member is well prepared and comfortable in their role contributing to a smoother transition to a safe working environment; and promoting patient care excellence through leading the Crucial Elements of Care to Prevent Deconditioning of Patients Study Day – focusing on maintaining overall well-being and patient mobility during hospital stays. His dedication to this initiative alongside the SMEs presenting on the study day not only improves patient experience but also serves as a powerful educational tool for RNs, NAs and CSWs, emphasising the importance of holistic and proactive patient care.

Shaverick has been instrumental in fostering a supportive and inclusive environment that celebrates the unique contributions of the international nurses, whose efforts have not only bridged the gaps in clinical practice but also boosted the confidence and competence of the nurses, leading to a more cohesive working environment. As an internationally educated nurse who had attended his sessions, I am proud to have seen the incomparable way of teaching he does, as he brings unparalleled blend of humour and glee into every lesson making complex concepts easier to understand and learn. Shaverick always acts as a champion of the Trust values, and he is an inspiring role model consistently upholding the standards of ENHT and encouraging others to do the same. Whether through innovative educational programmes, mentorship, or leading by example, Shaverick promotes a culture of continuous improvement and unwavering commitment to staff well-being, professional development, and patient care.

Shaverick exemplifies the qualities of compassion, care, excellence, and commitment that the DAISY Award celebrates. His diligence in nurturing the growth and success of international nurses, leading vital clinical education initiatives, and promoting exceptional patient care is truly motivating. Shaverick not only improves the skills and confidence of the nursing staff but also enhances the overall quality of care they provide to the patients. It is with great pride and admiration that I nominate Shaverick for the DAISY Award, in recognition of his extraordinary contributions to the wider nursing community.
