By encouraging dialogue and facilitating peer support, Kerubo excels at molding human clay, making everyone feel valued, motivated, and proud to be a nurse.
I am honored to nominate Kerubo for the DAISY Award in recognition of her outstanding dedication to nursing excellence and her unwavering commitment to fostering a collaborative environment as a nurse leader. Kerubo embodies the true essence of leadership, consistently demonstrating not only her exceptional clinical skills but also her passion for mentorship and growth.

Kerubo is a highly skilled nurse with expertise in high-acuity care, including micro preemie and preemie IV insertion. Her proficiency is truly remarkable. Despite her skill, she remains humble, kind, and always eager to learn as well as to teach. She believes that "We're here to grow and learn," and she expressed this after explaining to another nurse leader why she is committed to providing new grads with more opportunities to learn. I had the privilege of experiencing her mentorship when I was new to the unit as a traveler. I asked Kerubo a question, and her response was, "Let's grow together," as we searched for the best answer to my inquiry.

Kerubo is cheerful, optimistic, genuine, and kind, and she makes learning a safe space for everyone, including herself. It's refreshing to be around a leader who remains open to learning and growth, especially in a field where many leaders may forget this essential part of nursing. Education is our greatest power as nurses; it’s how we grow personally and how we empower others, both patients and colleagues alike. One of our most powerful love languages as nurses is education. Through learning and teaching, nurses change lives. Kerubo’s approach to teaching is both approachable and empowering. As she told a new grad, "Everything is a learning opportunity. Everything." By encouraging dialogue and facilitating peer support, Kerubo excels at molding human clay, making everyone feel valued, motivated, and proud to be a nurse.

I wholeheartedly believe that Kerubo’s exemplary leadership, mentorship, and passion for creating a culture of learning inspire others to rediscover their love for nursing each and every day. She deserves the prestigious DAISY Award, as she makes everyone feel special, which sets her apart from the rest. What a beautiful leadership style. I’m so honored to witness her in motion.
