You are a gift to this profession—and to every child and family lucky enough to cross your path.
I would like to recognize Nurse Ryoko for her exceptional care and compassion during my son's stay. Her actions were amazing. She consistently went above and beyond to ensure my son felt comfortable when he was very scared to be touched. From the moment she became his nurse, Ryoko made him feel at ease after so many traumatic experiences.
Her ability to engage him not only made his experience bearable but also facilitated the necessary medical discussions. Because he was relaxed and cooperative, her empathy extended to me as well. She listened to my concerns and provided both professional and personal support.

From Nurse Manager:
Today, we celebrate you, Ryoko, someone who truly exemplifies the very heart of this recognition. Ryoko, you are more than just a nurse. You are a gentle guide for families navigating some of the most vulnerable and uncertain moments of their lives. Day after day, you bring not only medical excellence to the bedside but also warmth, patience, and a kind of hope that children and their families cling to.
One parent recently shared: “Ryoko has been attentive to my son and me. She does her best when interacting with my son. She knows he doesn’t do good when he sees all the nurses and doctors come in. She does well and plays with him to ease his nerves. She is very caring and patient, and I truly appreciate that. She also took him to the playroom, which he loved so much.”
That is the kind of nurse you are—someone who sees the whole patient and the whole family. You treat each patient like they were your own child. Whether it's playing games to calm a restless toddler, advocating for a child’s care plan, or simply being present during the hardest of times, you lead with empathy, skill, and a quiet strength that leaves a lasting mark on everyone you meet.
When asked at monthly meetings to describe an individual who has gone above and beyond in the Pediatric Department, you are frequently mentioned by your colleagues. They describe you as a gift —always dependable, always willing to step in, to help, and to lift others up. A true team player who brings light to every shift and inspires those around them to give their very best.
It is nurses like you, Ryoko, who remind us why we do what we do. We are thrilled that you are being recognized for your outstanding dedication, compassion, and unwavering commitment to excellence in pediatric nursing. Congratulations, Ryoko.
