In a hospital setting, where it’s easy to feel like just another room number or chart, Megan made me feel like a whole person.
During my hospital stay, one of the biggest sources of comfort and peace was knowing when Megan was going to be my nurse. Every time I saw her name on the board, I felt a wave of relief. I knew I would be safe, not just medically, but emotionally and mentally too. Megan didn’t just come in, do her job, and leave. She took the time to know me. She made the effort to learn who I was outside of being a patient.
In a hospital setting, where it’s easy to feel like just another room number or chart, Megan made me feel like a whole person. She sat with me, talked with me, and reminded me that I mattered. Her presence made my room feel less like a hospital and more like a place of healing. Beyond her warmth and compassion, Megan is incredibly knowledgeable and thorough. She explained every medication, procedure, and aspect of my care in a way that made me feel informed and empowered. She never rushed; instead, she made sure I understood what was happening and why. That kind of clarity and education made me feel safer, more in control, and less overwhelmed.
One moment that meant so much to me was when I was visiting my newborn in the NICU. Megan didn’t wait for me to return; she walked over to find me and personally brought my medications to make sure I stayed on track. She reminded me to care for myself, even when all my attention was on my baby. That simple act of kindness spoke volumes; she didn’t have to do that. But she did, because she truly cared. Megan made a lasting difference in my hospital stay. Her compassion, knowledge, and dedication to going above and beyond for her patients make her a perfect example of what the DAISY Award is all about. I’m so grateful for her care, and I’ll never forget the way she made me feel seen, supported, and human.
