Liz constantly came in and checked on us, making sure we were doing well and that we didn't need anything.
My sister was a 44-year-old patient being switched to palliative care. We were all in shock, and we were terrified. We didn't know what to look for or what to expect. We all had many questions, and we were terrified for our sister and daughter. We had a lot of really good nurses, but we had one nurse named Liz, who was assigned to my sister for multiple days while she was there for 12 days. She was willing and ready to answer any question we had. Multiple times sometimes. And described it in multiple ways so that everybody in the family understood. She came in and spoke to my sister as if she were a person. And made it feel comforting. Instead of just handling my sister, she described everything she was going to do before she touched her. For us, that was a very big deal.
Liz came and showed me how to do things so I could adjust my sister's pillows and fans. She allowed me to be involved in caring for her as much as possible. Liz constantly came in and checked on us, making sure we were doing well and that we didn't need anything. She never had to go online. She always had an answer to every single one of our questions. She was pleased and thoroughly enjoyed her work; it was evident in her attitude. She absolutely loves what she does. And it shows, and it helps make things so much more comfortable in the situation we were in. A few examples: she would let me help put pillows underneath her or lift her. She would explain to us when different things would happen that we didn't understand, and she would help us understand each different stage. As it got closer and closer. She helped comfort us as our blood pressure dropped and our oxygen levels fluctuated. She would take extra vitals whenever my mom would want to see her stats. Liz stood out more than all the other nurses. She seemed genuinely concerned and genuinely cared about our situation. She was beyond helpful and kind. The absolute best nurse I've ever experienced in my life.
