Her leadership is rooted in kindness, respect, and integrity, and she navigates challenging situations in ways that strengthen our team and foster a culture of mutual respect.
Our nurse manager is an exemplary leader who embodies the principles of trust, compassion, mutual respect, and ethical behavior. She treats every team member with respect, listens to our concerns, and continuously helps us grow into the best team possible. She ensures we have the right tools and resources to provide safe, efficient, and effective patient care. Her leadership is rooted in kindness, respect, and integrity, and she navigates challenging situations in ways that strengthen our team and foster a culture of mutual respect. She is always willing to lend a helping hand, even answering call lights and triaging patients when our unit is overwhelmed. Her dedication, compassion, and leadership make her an outstanding nurse manager, and I am incredibly grateful to be part of her team.
She consistently demonstrates her availability and responsiveness to the needs of the team. She is accessible even outside of work, especially during times of short staffing or downtime on our unit. If there are ever any issues, day or night, she makes herself available to assist with any needs that may arise. She is timely with responses to emails and always ready to talk when needed. Her door is always open, and she is willing to jump in and help with nursing tasks when it is busy or if we are short a staff member.
She is a strong advocate for our team, ensuring we have breaks and helping with nursing tasks when we are short-staffed. She pushes us to be the best version of ourselves and communicates our needs to organizational leadership. She ensures that organizational priorities and directions are relayed to the team in a timely fashion. Her advocacy extends to fostering our well-being, understanding that we must take care of ourselves to care for others. When I experienced a sudden and heartbreaking loss of a family member, she supported me in every way possible, offering kindness, flexibility, and understanding during such a difficult time.
She exemplifies critical thinking and problem-solving skills. If she does not know the answer, she finds it. She encourages the team to practice problem-solving and critical thinking daily. One example is when we had issues with a manual ring cutter that was unable to remove a ring for a patient; she looked into updated equipment to prevent that situation in the future.
She is supportive and understanding of her employees' needs and tries to help foster their needs within her control. She gets to know the team to understand their strengths and weaknesses to set us up for success. Personally, when I have interacted with her, she actively listens and engages with me, and I have witnessed her practice this with other employees when approached.
