Dr. Cline embodies and clearly demonstrates the transformative power of nursing education in shaping care, quality, and equity.
Dr. Cline is an Assistant Professor in the School of Nursing at the MGH Institute of Health Professions, dualcertified as a Family and Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, and practices clinically in the areas of urgent care and dermatology. Dr. Cline demonstrates outstanding faculty practices in two key areas: (1) the graduate school setting where she creates a rigorous and high-quality experience for students of nurse practitioner programs, and (2) the clinical care setting given her dedication and efforts toward improving practices through educational initiatives. Her outstanding contributions make her a deserving candidate for this special recognition from The DAISY Foundation.

Dr. Cline demonstrates instructional excellence in her teaching of core courses for nurse practitioner students, including Advanced Health Assessment, Advanced Pharmacology, Patient Care Across the Lifespan, and Diagnostic Reasoning. Her courses span a mix of foundational and upper-division topics, but a perennial component of any course Dr. Cline teaches is innovation in instructional methods that surpass the essential and established curriculum requirements. For example, she developed and coordinates "Pediatric Health Assessment Day," which provides students across nurse practitioner specialty tracks with real, live opportunities to apply their knowledge about pediatric development and assessment. On this day, students work with volunteer families in a controlled learning environment to safely implement knowledge, practice skills, and gain clinical confidence. Her work here is critically important, as although many students will care for pediatric clients following licensure and certification, there are limited opportunities for many students to conduct well-child assessments.

Dr. Cline's expertise as a clinician and educator shine through during these learning experiences, however, she also takes the opportunity to impart values of dignity, kindness, respect, responsibility, and honesty on students who need to enter practice as confident and reliable nurses. Students enjoy being in her courses, make consistent requests for her to teach additional courses, and have nominated her for internal excellence awards. Dr. Cline's commitment to student success extends beyond the classroom. As selection committee members may be aware, there is a paucity of clinical placements for nurse practitioner students. Above and beyond her faculty duties, Dr. Cline has precepted many nurse practitioner students during their clinical rotations. This professional generosity demonstrates her commitment to student learning and workforce development, ensuring that future NP health care leaders can successfully complete their education and enter practice to serve patients in need.

Dr. Cline has also made significant contributions to the education of practicing clinicians across the northeast. She leverages her expertise as an educator to ensure that children receiving urgent care services have equitable access to care and health innovations. Despite the critical need for pediatric access to urgent care services, this setting carries a provider education focus on the adult client. Recently, she fully reviewed and revised the pediatric protocols for Physician One Urgent Care, a multi-site group with locations across Massachusetts, Connecticut, and New York. This transformative initiative has not only improved practices at the School of Nursing, Charlestown Navy Yard, but has also advanced care quality and health justice for children. She has also served as an expert educator for interprofessional clinicians of the MassGeneralBrigham Urgent Care Network and Boston Children's Hospital on topics including allergy and anaphylaxis, atopic conditions, dermatological conditions, Lyme disease, streptococcal pharyngitis, and antibiotic stewardship. Her commitments and contributions to ensuring there are relevant and timely educational clinical materials in the urgent care setting are in alignment with nursing education standards to ensure the provision of safe, effective, evidence-based practices.

Through her many and varied educational programs for clinicians of three leading organizations serving millions of patients per year, Dr. Cline's instructional excellence extends beyond the boundaries of the classroom and our region. By diligently addressing the educational needs of community providers and championing pediatric care, Dr. Cline's work fosters a culture of continuous learning, lifespan competence, and improvement in care delivery while showcasing the accountability that the MGH IHP SON faculty have to health care at large. I am proud to be a colleague of Dr. Cline, a dedicated and committed faculty member who elevates the IHP learning experience, the specialty of pediatric community practice, and the nursing discipline through educational initiatives. Dr. Cline embodies and clearly demonstrates the transformative power of nursing education in shaping care, quality, and equity. She is accountable to students, clinician peers, and families, and does not take this responsibility lightly. Her work impacts countless patients and families, as following her instruction in the classroom or clinical setting, hundreds of professionals are prepared to offer effective, efficient, and inclusive care. I wholeheartedly endorse her as a DAISY Nurse Educator.
