Her kindness and her concern for my well-being, and the well-being of each one of us here, are very evident and always her priority.
I am nominating Kristin Friedrich for the DAISY Award because she is truly an extraordinary Nurse Leader, and I deeply appreciate her.
Good leaders are essential for creating a positive and happy work environment, which in turn leads to happy employees.
Kristin consistently creates a compassionate, caring, and positive atmosphere where our team thrives. This positive environment extends to our community, and the gratitude we receive from our clients and community members is a direct reflection of her leadership.
When I started as a new Administrative Assistant 3 years ago, Kristin was also a new Nurse Manager. Despite our age difference, we quickly developed excellent communication. She consistently expresses her respect and admiration for my work and the experience I bring. Initially, as we were both new to our roles, there was a period of building trust regarding our individual capabilities. However, countless instances have solidified my trust, respect, and admiration for Kristin.
One notable example occurred about a year after I started when we faced the daunting task of State Archiving (RIMS). I was overwhelmed by the sheer volume of historical records stored in our office. Kristin proposed we tackle it together. She not only sat beside me during the webinar training but also sat on the floor with me, sorting through more than 15 years of records and reports. Together, we completed the project. That day, I witnessed her exceptional leadership, problem-solving skills, and genuine care for me as a person and for my administrative responsibilities. I deeply admire leaders who are willing to learn alongside their team and actively participate.
Kristin is always accessible, whether for work-related matters or personal concerns. Recently, after I had left for the evening, she texted me to check in, noting my uncommon quietness that day. The next morning, when I asked if I could talk to her, she juggled her schedule and made time for me right away. She listened attentively and compassionately, understanding my concerns. She offered her help and also informed me that she was advocating for me regarding my job concerns. She encourages me to share my ideas for problem-solving and improving current procedures. Her kindness and her concern for my well-being, and the well-being of each one of us here, are very evident and always her priority.
Kristin maintains an excellent rapport with our County Commissioners and other County Officials. She attends all commissioner meetings, keeping them updated on community events and our team's needs. Her strong leadership, respect for her superiors, compassion for community well-being, and expertise in nursing and public health ensure that our team's needs are met.
Kristin is a strong advocate for professional development and self-care. She facilitates monthly wellness challenges, allowing us to propose our own or vote on a team challenge. Our monthly challenges have included exploring our Bighorn Mountain Public Lands, group walking, group yoga, golf putting, and much more. These activities not only bring our team closer, but also help me personally prioritize healthy choices.
Kristin's compassion and kindness extend to every client. When I occasionally need her assistance with client questions, she approaches each interaction with genuine care while explaining public health procedures and protocols.
As County Nurse Manager, Kristin actively promotes Public Health Nursing throughout our community. She encourages our team's participation in health fairs, car seat events, school events, off-site flu vaccine clinics, farm fresh markets, the city's Halloween Monster March, suicide prevention events, and much more.
I truly believe that strong, trustworthy, and compassionate leadership fosters happy, engaged employees and a peaceful work environment. This is undeniably what we have at Johnson County Public Health, thanks to Kristin.
