It was you who gave my dying father exemplary nursing care with stellar kindness and compassion.
Our 85-year-old father was admitted to Keck Medical of USC after having a massive stroke during his sleep. As we struggled to watch our father on life support, unresponsive after being there for 5 days, we got the best nurse to be with him during his last night of life. We had spoken to many nurses and three doctors, and couldn’t have asked for a better nurse.
You were god-sent, Kevin. It was you who gave my dying father exemplary nursing care with stellar kindness and compassion. You touched our hearts and comforted our spirits during the darkest moments of our lives. You made sure my father was comfortable, you treated him with respect, and you took the time to explain in detail the signs and symptoms of strokes. When we thought our hearts were completely broken and we were dying as well, you treated us with compassion and grace. That fateful evening, we sat in my father’s hospital room, and you took the time to explain the complexities of strokes and brain function. Your ability to teach us with kindness and clarity helped us navigate our emotions and understand the situation better. It was evident that you approached your work with genuine human emotions, treating my father not just as a patient but as a cherished individual. You also shared your personal experience of what you went through with your father having a stroke. I bet you do not receive enough Thank Yous and probably are completely unaware of the significant difference you make in the lives of patients and their families. We want to ensure you are recognized for the work you do and the difference you make. Our family will forever be thankful. You have made a lasting impact on our hearts.
