I was admitted to intensive care due to a case of preeclampsia. I can’t explain how hard it was to be separated from my newborn daughter; she, being premature, was also in the neonatal intensive care unit. You can imagine what it feels like: fear, anguish, uncertainty. However, what made all the difference was the nursing team that cared for me—beautiful, generous people full of love. If it hadn’t been for them, this experience would have been infinitely more difficult.
Day after day, they helped me get through it, not only with their professionalism but with their warmth, their smiles, their jokes, and their presence. They made me feel as though they had known me forever. I remember texting my family and telling them with total certainty: “I’m in good hands, I’m not alone.” And it was true. From the very first day, I felt accompanied, supported, and embraced with their hearts. They even went to Mass to pray for my daughter. They sent me photos, and they checked on her. These are memories I treasure deeply.
Today I’m still in touch with some of them. I remember all of them as my angels. And among those angels, there was one who left a very special mark. Thank you, Julio. For caring not only for my health, but also for my soul. For your dedication, your empathy, and your presence during one of the most vulnerable moments of my life. This recognition is more than deserved. Thank you, Julio, for existing and for healing from the heart.
