As an educator, she models professionalism, compassion, and integrity.
We proudly recognize Joanne (Jo) Foley, Nurse Educator for 6W and 4E, for her exceptional commitment to nursing education, mentorship, and clinical excellence. A longtime educator at BMC and instructor at Laboure College, Jo stepped up to support both units full-time when 4E was left without an educator, managing onboarding, certifications, and daily staff development.

She leads weekly education sessions, a monthly “Pass the Baton” series, and creates engaging, practical learning experiences such as her Alcohol Withdrawal presentation. Jo ensures all staff, both day and night, have access to education and resources. She shares educational tips during huddles and fosters a safe, supportive environment that empowers nurse development at every level by encouraging certification, supporting new graduates, and offering hands-on guidance, such as walking a nurse through bedside suctioning.

Jo nurtures an inclusive learning environment with early-morning sessions for night staff, her signature “Cookies and Content” educational talks, and a strong focus on evidence-based practice, often asking, “What does the data show?” She even launched a med-surg certification challenge to inspire staff, assisting with the process and sharing daily practice questions, all while remaining approachable, knowledgeable, and deeply committed to staff growth.

Jo is a true asset to BMC. As an educator, she models professionalism, compassion, and integrity. She is more than a teacher; she is a mentor, advocate, and role model. Her unwavering commitment to nurturing both new and seasoned nurses makes her highly deserving of this recognition.
