If a patient is particularly vulnerable, Jenn is sure to follow up proactively, even daily if needed, to ensure optimal response for the patient. She adapts her plan to ensure we are prioritizing patients' quality of life.
Jennifer is the primary Supportive Care RN in our MSK Montvale, NJ site. She supports clinics each week and attends to complex patient needs in-between clinic visits. Jennifer is such a pleasure to collaborate with. She is more than a nursing professional caring for her patients - she practices the art of compassion for EVERY patient and their families. Jennifer knows that the overall distress experienced by cancer patients and their families has to do with more than what we hear on the surface. She spends time listening to our patients and offering counsel. At times, a patient's or family member's distress may heighten the emotion in an interaction. Jennifer's calm nature and full presence/attentiveness provide a path to de-escalation of patients/families so that we can support the most therapeutic interaction with them. She is able to support the advancement of goals of care discussions by eliciting patients' individual values. She ensures that a patient's voice is elicited and heard.

Jennifer goes above and beyond for each patient when considering a patient's follow up needs. It often takes multiple titrations to optimize symptoms. If a patient is particularly vulnerable, Jenn is sure to follow up proactively, even daily if needed, to ensure optimal response for the patient. She adapts her plan to ensure we are prioritizing patients' quality of life.

Jenn promotes a positive work environment, reduces the workload for her colleagues whenever possible, and supports continuity for her patients. Her colleagues frequently reach out to her to collaborate on Supportive Care needs for patients. She is not afraid of challenging patients and will maintain continuity for the most challenging. This helps to reduce the stress of colleagues and patients, as exemplified below. When she is away, she leaves a concise, relevant sign out for her RN colleagues who are covering to ensure follow up and continuity for patients with needs. She is never "above" a certain job, helping admin staff when they are busy as well. Having Jenn on my team leaves me reassured that everyone will lend a helping hand to get through the day together.

Jenn interacts efficiently and coherently with her peers, patients, their families, and her colleagues. I know that whenever Jennifer is taking care of our patients, I feel confident in the safe, professional care she will give them. I recently learned that she came in on her day off to speak with a patient about hospice. I am not surprised she did this as Jennifer is dedicated to making sure that the patient understands what their end-of-life journey will be like. She exemplifies strong listening skills and has the skill to empathize with both patients and their loved ones. Jennifer is naturally compassionate and caring person; she is highly dependable. Her dedication and commitment to the nursing profession, along with her people skills and expertise, make her a true DAISY Nurse.
