She strikes the perfect balance between offering guidance and allowing us the freedom to innovate. Her leadership style is rooted in empathy, and she leads by example, setting a high standard for both professionalism and kindness. Her warm, friendly personality makes it easy for us to approach her with any concerns, knowing she will listen with an open heart.
I have been fortunate to work with Janet for over ten years- as a coworker twice and with her as my manager twice. With that much history, I also consider her a friend and that is a valued thing to be able to view team members that way. Janet has transitioned into our manager position so smoothly, though she will laugh when she hears or reads that- but our team feels her transitioning was a seamless and easy choice. We feel valued, empowered, and energized individually and as a team to continue to not only advocate for patients and staff needs, but to elevate our own practice as nurses in a non-bedside role so that we can support our facilities. Thank you, Janet, for everything you do. We are so happy to have you as our team’s manager!

Janet is a great leader who accepted the position of Education Department Manager when the Manager and Director resigned their positions. She has stepped in and assumed the role with a positive, caring, compassionate presentation. Janet is a true advocate for patients in ensuring the Wound Ostomy Continence Service is provided with the tools needed for optimal patient care. She has completed this by advocating for us to be at the bedside caring for patients during times when the service is normally requested to complete other duties as assigned. She is always appreciative of our team prioritizing patients over other activities. She advocates for our continued education to promote our abilities to keep up to date with the newest evidence-based practice through conference attendance, which ensures a higher focus on patient care. Janet continues to embody the Memorial Hermann experience and ensures her team mirrors this positive display. Our team is like a family, we continue to be autonomous, but know she is always available. I would respectfully request she be recognized as a DAISY Nurse Leader for her commitment to Memorial Hermann Education Department, Southeast Hospital, Pearland Hospital, and most importantly, our patients and families.

From the minute I met Janet, I knew we would meet again. I knew from my interview that she was an AMAZING leader. She has made me feel welcome since day 1 and has made sure that I have everything necessary to be an EXTRAORDINARY educator like her. Her enthusiasm and energy for the changes and challenges of nursing is exactly what we need as a leader, and we are blessed to have her as our leader of our education team. She remains positive even when she is pulled in many different ways; she ensures that it gets done and done the right way. She works great with everyone and everyone loves her because of her energy, flexibility, empathy, and just being Janet! Thank you, Janet, for everything.

Janet Gregory is an exceptional leader. As the manager of education, she generates enthusiasm among the educators, recognizing that the education they provide to the staff impacts our care of patients and families. I have known Janet for many years and have attended the last two magnet conferences with her. At the conferences, Janet engages the members of the Memorial Hermann team to share best practices learned at the conference to bring back to Memorial Hermann. She consistently plans for team activities at the conference, ensuring a valuable learning opportunity mixed with teamwork and fun. Janet is genuinely interested in meeting the professional needs of her educators and cares about our personal needs as well. Recently, she has demonstrated her flexibility while acting as intern director of education and balancing the extra work with a positive attitude. Janet demonstrates all the characteristics of a DAISY Nurse Leader, and I am blessed to work with her.

When I came on to the education team, they were going through many changes. Janet had the courage to step up as a leader she is and take on the role of the manager. Since then, she has been an excellent leader and support of the many transitions that was to come for this team. She always carries herself in a professional and respectful manner. She supports the team with each endeavor, whether personal or work-related. Mine's personally transitioning to a new position and school. Janet has always displayed a positive attitude as an Educator. When our former Director and Manager began new journeys in their lives that moved them out of education, Janet was there to help keep us afloat. As a manager without a director to report to, she remained steadfast. She understood the assignment. For the past 8 or so months, Janet has worn the hats of Director, Manager, and Educator. She supports our team in all endeavors. Janet supports our Wound Care team by ensuring they have time to conduct their Prevalence tasks at Southeast and Pearland. Diabetic Educator by making sure she has the support of the team, as she is a team of one. She also supports the Transition to Practice department by attending off-campus meetings to align Memorial Hermann with the various Colleges and Universities. As part of the education team, I can say so much more about Janet. She encourages us to take time for ourselves. She understands the term burnout, and she is a genuinely empathetic person. She also encourages us to be creative and innovative when it comes to developing needed education for our staff. Janet is a powerhouse. She is also a funny. She keeps us in stiches, one of the many reasons I love having her as a manager.

I am honored to nominate Janet Gregory for the DAISY Nurse Leader Award. Janet is an exceptional leader who goes beyond the traditional scope of nursing education to create a truly collaborative and inclusive healthcare environment. One of Janet's most impactful contributions has been her commitment to integrate ancillary departments into her nursing initiatives. She recognizes that outstanding patient care requires teamwork across all disciplines. She actively fosters relationships between nurses and supporting departments to enhance communication, efficiency, and patient outcomes. Her ability to bring together diverse teams speaks to her visionary leadership and dedication to healthcare improvement. Janet consistently steps outside of her primary scope of care to support the growth and development of others. She is not only a mentor to nurses, but also an advocate for interdisciplinary education and professional development. Her willingness to share knowledge, provide guidance, and create opportunities for others to thrive sets her apart as a true leader. Janet is an excellent candidate for the DAISY Nurse Leader Award. She is an inspiration to her colleagues and a driving force for positive change within our organization.

This leader stepped up into her role when the team was at its weakest, due to vacant positions. This took courage and dedication. She took on new roles while continuing to keep up with her former duties. At one point, she was performing a job that was once done by three different people, and doing it very well! She was our team's support during massive change and personnel changes. She showed backbone, growth, caring, and true dedication to her job over this past year while still maintaining a positive and caring attitude. She not just held our team together but continued to help us grow and keep our positive attitudes during this changing year. These are the reasons I think Janet Gregory deserves this award.
