Hannah Yost's actions while she was my nurse are a textbook example of empathetic and elite care. I was hospitalized for Flu and pneumonia with shortness of breath and tachycardia while 20 weeks pregnant. I was admitted to an area of the hospital not specializing in obstetrics, so I know I was not the typical patient! Nurse Hannah showed up to her shift and advocated not only for myself but also for my unborn child. Hannah single-handedly arranged necessary fetal monitoring. She made all communication necessary for us to receive our specialty consult. There is a detrimental difference between “proactive” medicine and “reactive” medicine. She was not only attentive to my vitals on the screen but asked open-ended questions about the state of my symptoms. Hannah is the type of nurse who, instead of following a work list order, contacts the provider to manage medications to fit my needs the best. I witnessed this first hand. It is so easy to forget how scary being a patient is, but when you have a nurse like Hannah, you can rest and heal knowing she will handle your case with the utmost care. I was treated like family by Hannah, and there is no better example of “SouthBest”.
